| Well it’s now December and time for the
silly season to get started. There hasn’t really been that much progress
on the layout unfortunately. |
 |
In short, I’ve added a few people to the layout.
Such as the start of my track gang on the Western approach to Summiton
Yard. These where made from an assortment of unpainted people I
had lying around in my “bits” box. Now that I’ve allocated a spot
on the layout to these people, I can start talking to them. |
|
| By virtue of the fact that these people are located
close to the front door, they have become a great way of proving
to the boss (Jade to those who are new) that a healthy level of
insanity reins supreme in the old Wuiske head. |
 |
|
 |
In other words, Jade will pop her head through
the door with some inflammatory remark, such as “how bout mowing
the yard?” and all I have to do is say “Hey Bob, how can you just
sit there while Steve does all the work?” Obviously, Jade’s first
response was “how about because you glued him there” and so the
discussion will continue. |
|
| This little brain wave I had seems to work
for not only mowing…. Oh no, this is a multipurpose insanity plea, It
also works equally well with the dishes, walking the dog, talking to the
in-laws and the list goes on. |
| So in this way I suggest that we no longer deny
the fact that we as Model Railway Enthusiasts are bonkers. But rather
that we revel in it and simply ask those mates without the forethought
to get such an all consuming hobby as model railways little things
like “how was it mowing in 45 degree heat?” |
 |
|
 |
So after “The voices” took a vote and decided
that they couldn’t concentrate whilst Jade was in the room, we got
down to work. See the plan worked, plus Jade got me this lovely
white dinner jacket…. Though I can’t work out why it buttons from
the back and has gloves sewn onto the sleeves. |
|
| Anyway, back to the layout. I managed to get one
of the new building kits from Structorama built and placed on the
layout. I’ve called it “Craig’s Fisho” after my brother, and being
a chef he would appreciate the culinary delights of a fish and chip
shop. I used a couple of items from a Woodland Scenics kit for the
fridges and a scrap of Plastruct box section for the counter. |
 |
|
 |
It's important to make sure that you don’t glue
the roof on until the very last step. You need to make sure the
light won’t shine through the walls. I used a flat black paint on
the inside of the walls to achieve this. Once everything was in
place I positioned the building where I wanted it and got the roof
ready. |
|
|
All the lettering was made from Deca Dry transfers
and the signs came from Woodland Scenics dry transfer decal sets.
All that's left now is some weathering, some graffitti,
and maybe a dog sleeping out the side.
We shall see how we go.
