Well with a slight ease in the number of flood warnings,
Guss (aka James) decided to head out to Planet Jandowae to play trains.
|
 |
After having recently relayed the track in the
Lion's Park for the live steamers after the last flood, Jade and
I were enjoying some relaxation time at the track as we were under
the impression that young Guss would slowly amble out to Jandowae
after stopping innumerable times to take photos along the |
|
Western Line, just like every one else who
turns up... We were wrong!
At around 9am, we got a tingle on the mobile blower. Guss was just coming
into town! Righty O… So after saying G'day to everyone at the track, we
headed off home to have a gander at the layout. |
| Guss seemed to be impressed with the running
qualities of the layout, well for 11 hours he was anyway. Now unfortunately
I have no photos of Guss' visit, owing to the fact that Jade had
decided to paint 22 more trees instead. |
 |
|
| Well that's what she says anyway. I know
that she was really plotting some form of world domination involving a
tennis racquet and a ball of string, but don't let her know I told you.
|
 |
I must say, it was great to have an extra person
to chin wag with whilst running the layout. It was also great to
be able to see how others use it and what their thoughts are on
running this layout. After all, isn't this what the hobby is all
about?
We took a break from running trains… |
|
| Well.... Guss and I did, the trains just
kept on running. Jade had prepared a spot |
| of lunch for us and I started to develop a theory
about Cephor, one of our cats (she's the one with an attitude problem).
I have been noticing that she has taken to staring at a post on
the balcony… From a distance of about three inches! So the constant
excitement of peeling red paint not withstanding, I think she is
starting to go ga-ga. |
 |
|
It is more than likely worth mentioning
that a week later she has tried to stalk one of the support pillars for
the house… Hmmm a medium size cat trying to stare down a six inch square
post, somehow I am starting to think that there may be nothing more than
an absentee list in between her ears now. So apparently
it is true, if you are a lunatic, then your pets will become the same
way.
In any case back to the layout. |
 |
Jade had finished painting 22 more trees, and
I started putting the foliage on them. I have been planting these
on the Eastern end of Holman Passing Loop, just to try and get something
looking a bit more complete on the layout. Since the mountain is
a fairly noticeable feature, I figured it was as good a place to
start as any. |
|
Besides, with the height and width of this mountain,
we need a ladder to reach the top to put trees in. And until all
of this is finished, we can't build the scenery on the outer edge
of the track.
So after having planted these, the hill is starting to look a bit
more complete. Though it does still resemble a small sneeze on a
large tissue. |

|
 |
I have also finished a 1720 class loco for a friend.
As I mentioned in an earlier chapter, I am actually building two
of these. Mine is still not quite ready for decaling. 1729D on the
other hand has come up pretty well.
I am starting to put an overhead bridge across the yard at the moment...
But that's another story for another chapter. |
We shall see how we go.
