OK so here we are having just gotten back from
the Brisbane Miniature Train Show once more. We are proud to say
that this year was our biggest and best show ever! It was great
to meet a lot of new comers to QR modeling. Unlike most years I
actually managed to only loose my voice once this year… Not 100%
sure why but Jade doesn’t seem to view that as a positive.. |
|
| On our return it was straight back to work
on some more new kits that should (hopefully) start appearing around the
time of the Toowoomba show. It is worth mentioning that the old Wuiske
Asylum has seen a constant series of “guest stars” over the last month
or so. |
|
One of our customers decided to visit us in their
company car whilst escorting a “Tonka Truck” on its way down to
Newcastle. It is worth mentioning that I had not thought of the
fact that a police escort usually involves a police car? So being
that there are only two police officers on Planet Jandowae the
new addition of a Police Limo overnight made a few heads turn.
|
 |
|
We were informed that there was in fact
an email circulated around town regarding the “police limo” that was parked
across the road from the school overnight.
|

|
Shortly after this, we had another customer come
up from Canberra as well as the Buckholz family drop in from Bundaberg.
|
|
| It is becoming a bit of a tradition
that Dallas (from Rocky) and Andrew (from Townsville) come down
just prior to the show and spend a few days playing trains with
us. As usual Jade managed to con our visitants into playing a game
of monopoly. Now I feel It is worth mentioning that Jade takes the
game of monopoly VERY seriously. |
 |
|
|

|
So seriously in fact that those evil Parker Brothers
have been permanently removed from my Christmas Card list.
As a result, we…. (well ok, just me actually…)
have a little pact with any and all other male players who are too
slow to avoid being sucked into the Jade Monopoly trap… |
|
| Put simply, I encourage a little bit
of creativity in the allocation of monies. Put even more simply
- I cheat. So whilst Andrew, Dallas and I started with an extra
$500 note (must have been an accident in the count), we set about
playing the game. |
 |
|
 |
At one point in the game when Jade was crying
poor, I decided to make a donation to her of $500 (from the bank,
of course). She advised me that that is not fair, at which point
I thought it was only fair to inform her that “we all started with
an extra orange note, so fair is fair”. It was shortly after this
point that I was reminded that a quick wit is best accompanied by
an even quicker reflex! |
|
In all, the game was finished about four
hours later. And normality was returned to the house…. For about 3 seconds.
However we managed to contain the insanity to the layout room for a little
while anyway.
So with the running of trains taking up a good day and a half I am pleased
to say that everything worked out well. We managed to discuss some ideas
regarding the possible addition of extra hidden staging roads as the need
for this is starting to become overwhelmingly obvious.
|
| And so this brought us to the point where our
new kits were ready to be released… With the KLEX cattle wagon proving
to be a huge success both in the two days prior to the show and
the show itself as well as the PN locomotive. |

|
Pat’s Perm Palace was our latest addition to our
slowly growing building series and again it has proven to be a great
success. We are intending to have a large range of Australian building
kits available over the coming months. |
|
|
Hopefully by the time I get the next Adam’s Corner
ready I should actually have some more info regarding updates to the
layout.
We shall see how we go...
